The Basic Structure
Your BaZi chart has two components: a fixed component (the Four Pillars from your birth date) and a dynamic component — the Luck Pillars that cycle through your life in 10-year periods. Each Luck Pillar is a Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch pair, the same format as your birth pillars.
Starting at a specific age calculated from your birth data, you enter your first major Luck Pillar. After 10 years, you move to the next, and so on throughout your life.
Finding Your Starting Age
Your first Luck Pillar starting age depends on your exact birth moment, gender, whether the birth-year stem is Yang or Yin, and the distance to the relevant Solar Term. The result is personal rather than a universal age shared by every chart.
